The SSL 2+ MKII USB audio interface and VMS ML-1A bundle brings studio-level recording tools into any creative space. The interface features two upgraded SSL mic preamps, 32-bit/192kHz converters and dual headphone outs for easy zero-latency monitoring. The front panel offers dedicated gain knobs and instrument inputs, making it simple to record vocals, guitars or synths without fuss. Paired with the VMS ML-1A large-diaphragm condenser microphone, this bundle unlocks access to 36 modeled vintage mics via the included Virtual Microphone System plugin. The ML-1A’s ultralinear circuit and three-way pad switch capture high-energy sources like drums and loud amps cleanly. This setup suits anyone looking for clear, accurate tracks, whether working on a laptop or in a fixed studio.

SSL Mic Preamps Deliver Wide Dynamic Range

SSL’s custom-designed preamps in this interface run with a wide gain range, reaching up to 64dB. They handle any microphone, from ribbons to condensers, and work with high-output sources without distorting. The preamps have a dynamic range up to 116.5dB, so they capture quiet details and loud passages without losing definition. Built-in high-pass filters and +48V phantom power help users set up quickly for any session. These preamps preserve the punch and clarity SSL hardware is known for, helping tracks stand out in mixes.

ML-1A Microphone Models Shape Unique Sounds

The large-diaphragm condenser mic comes with the Virtual Microphone System plugin, which emulates 36 iconic mics, including classic tubes and rare ribbon types. Users can blend models, adjust low-frequency response and widen mono tracks to stereo—all inside the plugin. The mic’s three-position pad lets it record up to 145dB SPL, so it’s ready for loud drums or powerful amplifiers. This makes the mic a flexible tool for tracking vocals, instruments and more, while keeping noise levels low for clear recordings.

Connectivity and Controls Streamline Workflow

Recording becomes straightforward with four rear balanced TRS outputs for monitors and outboard gear. Front-panel hi-Z inputs suit guitars and basses, while combo XLR jacks accept line-level signals for keyboards or drum machines. Two headphone outs with separate volume controls support quick mix checks or collaboration without delay. The unit connects via USB-C, and includes both C-to-C and C-to-A cables for laptops or desktops. Dedicated switches allow fast format changes and easy setup in busy sessions.

Construction and Design With Studio Reliability

The interface features a tough metal chassis with tactile, easy-turn knobs that stand up to daily use. The ML-1A microphone sports a dark grey metallic finish and a reinforced grille, built to survive transport and repeated handling. Both units fit neatly in mobile rigs or permanent studio setups. The included shockmount and carrying case keep the mic protected, while the compact form factor makes travel and setup efficient for any recording situation.

SSL 2+ MKII and ML-1A Bundle Supports Creative Focus

Producers and engineers who want clear, accurate sound with flexible mic modeling gain real value from this bundle. The SSL interface and ML-1A microphone work together to capture every detail, while the plugin unlocks new tonal options for any session. By combining reliable hardware and powerful software, this setup helps users stay creative and focused, ready to deliver tracks that sound finished before mixing even starts.
