The StingRay RAY34 HH bass guitar from Sterling by Music Man delivers the signature punchy low end and rich harmonics of the classic StingRay bass, with modern appointments that enhance playability. The RAY34 is built with a sleek nyatoh body capped with an eye-catching spalted maple top. Inside is a roasted maple neck that provides rock-solid stability and singing sustain. Equipped with two alnico humbucker pickups, it puts a wide spectrum of tones at your fingertips. An ergonomic cutaway grants easy access to the upper frets. With its flexible 3-band active preamp, the StingRay RAY34 empowers you to shape your ideal bass sound for any musical setting.

Sculpt Your Tone With a 3-Band Active Preamp

At the heart of the RAY34 is its 3-band active preamp, giving you independent control over low, mid and high frequency response. Boost the lows for a thunderous bottom end that cuts through the mix. Scoop the mids for a slick, melodic tonality. Turn up the treble to add bite and definition. A master volume knob sets your overall output level. Whether you want a vintage growl, modern aggression or anywhere in between, the preamp equips you to dial in your signature sound.

Roasted Maple Neck Provides Stability and Sustain

The RAY34's roasted maple neck undergoes a proprietary heat-treating process that enhances its resilience and stability. The result is a neck that stays straight and true, even under heavy playing conditions. An added benefit is increased sustain and singing harmonics, as the wood's pores are sealed. The satin finish offers a smooth, fast feel that facilitates fleet-fingered runs across the fingerboard. Combined with its ergonomic cutaway for upper fret access, the RAY34 encourages you to play with abandon.

Two Alnico Humbuckers Offer Versatile Tonal Options

Instead of the traditional single pickup, the RAY34 comes loaded with two Sterling-designed alnico 5 humbucker pickups. With twice the tonal variety, you can coax aggressive rock tones, vintage warmth, punchy midrange and articulate highs out of this versatile instrument. Use the 5-way toggle switch to engage each pickup soloed or blended. Every position rewards you with inspiring new colors to paint with. Unleash your creativity and craft bass lines that soar, snarl and sing.

Eye-Catching Spalted Maple Top

Adding visual flair, the RAY34 flaunts a transparent black burst finish on its spalted maple top. Spalting occurs when the wood develops black fungal lines in the grain pattern, creating a one-of-a-kind mosaic. No two RAY34 instruments will look exactly alike due to the random nature of spalting. Let your bass stand out on stage with this distinctive, artful esthetic. Plug in and share your music with the world.
